Performance
Always store your project
files on a local hard drive - never attempt to run large linkages with the
project files on a network drive.
General Installation Problems
Almost all installation errors
relate to Windows permission errors.
LinkageWiz must be installed with
Full Administrator Rights.
If you do not have Full Administrator Rights on
your PC or if you experience strange errors then please ask your IT Help Desk
to install LinkageWiz using Full Administrator Rights.
Unable to Modify Linkage Weights
If you are
unable to change
any of the linkage weights nor use the scrolling arrows to change the values:
Try adding
“C:\Program Files\LinkageWiz 5.5\”
as a “trusted location” in MS Access
COMDLG32.OCX problem under Windows 2008 Server 64 Bit or
Windows 7
Most installation errors

install LinkageWiz using Full Administrator Rights.
If you are still experiencing
difficulties you may need to register the COMDLG32.OCX file manually:
Step 1 - Check that the
COMDLG32.OCX file exists in your Windows System directory (usually
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 or C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64 for 64 bit machines).
If the comdlg32.ocx file does
not exist it can can be loaded
here. Next extract the comdlg32.ocx file and copy it to your Windows System
Directory:
Step 2 - You will need to
register the file using the Regsvr32.exe program. It is very important to
follow these steps carefully:

Go to the
Windows start menu and
press on it.
-
Select
All Programs - Accessories.
-
Look up to the top
of the star menu. You should see
Command Promt listed there.
-
Right
click on this. A menu will appear.
-
Choose to
Run as
administrator.
One in the Command Prompt,
type "CD\"
followed by your Windows System path e.g.
CD\ C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
or CD\ C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64
and press Enter.
Type
REGSVR32.EXE COMDLG32.OCX
and press Enter.
Finally type
EXIT
and press Enter to exit the CMD.EXE program.
The
COMDLG32.OCX
file should now be registered correctly and you should be able to run
LinkageWiz.
Error:
Could not find database to open 'C:\Program Files\LinkageWiz 5.1\LWOutputTemplate.mdl'
'
This problem is related to
Windows-based permissions.
Recommended actions:
Most installation errors
relate to Windows permission errors. LinkageWiz must be installed with Full
Administrator Rights. If you do not have Full Administrator Rights on your
PC or if you experience strange errors then please ask your IT Help Desk to
install LinkageWiz using Full Administrator Rights.If this is not possible, then organize for someone with
Administrator or Power User privileges to install the
LinkageWizSetup.exe file in Administrator Mode:
In Windows XP right-click the LinkageWizSetup.exe file and
choose the "Run As" menu option:
In Windows Vista or Windows 7 right-click the LinkageWizSetup.exe file and
choose the Run as Administrator menu item.
3. If you are still having problems then please reinstall
LinkageWiz into the C:\LinkageWiz 5.3 folder instead of the
Program Files\LinkageWiz 5.3 folder. This
should fix the problem on most PCs.
Error:
Table 'tblSettings' already exists
This
problem may occur when running LinkageWiz 5.0 or earlier Windows Vista or occasionally under Windows XP.
The problem is fixed running the LinkageWiz Vista update,
which can be downloaded from
http://www.linkagewiz.net/Update_Lw0080_Vista.zip .
Installation Problem under Windows NT
If you are using Windows NT, you will need
to download and install the following patches before LinkageWiz will function
correctly:
Jet 4.0 Service Pack 3
Jet 4.0 Service Pack 6
Installation Problem
for some French Users
If
you are receiving a message similar to "Could not find installable ISAM"
you should download and install the following
update from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9ef9bf70-dfe1-42a1-a4c8-39718c7e381d&displaylang=fr
Then use the Windows - Search - For files and folders...
function to search for the file named VB6FR.DLL.
Copy the VB6FR.DLLfile into the Windows directory to complete
the fix.
Special Fields
Do
not include any fields named "ReviewStatus" in your linkage tables as this
conflicts with an internal LinkageWiz field name.
